I just purchased a DVT prototype iMac G4 from eBay. I'll post some pictures when it arrives.
The only thing the seller posted was a picture with a sticker indicating it is a prototype. He also said that the screen doesn't work.
Paid $160 for it including shipping.

Hi.
I tried to install and make use of USB network adapters as faster alternative to the classic Airport.
The first was an Asus WL-167g. The second was a D-Link DWL-G122. In either case, after installing the drivers, when trying to connect (or, in the case of the D-Link adapter, just after plugging it in), the computer gets blocked and I have a message saying in several languages that I must restart the computer.
Any ideas?
I noticed that both adapters share the same chipset (Ralink RT2500); may that's the problem? Any experience with working network adapters?

I have an iPod Touch 4G that I had jailbroken on 4.2.1, but I messed with some system files that I shouldn't have messed with and I had to restore and update to 4.3. Is there anyway I can downgrade to 4.2.1 so I can jailbreak again?

Pretty pathetic.... when that happened to us, we bought a used one.. if you buy from a store, they'll provide some kind of warranty in many cases... we've had used ones last longer than new ones.

Next stop Wal-Mart, same story. Next Stop Meijer, same stupid story. Finally I go to Gamestop, and guess what only Kinect and Holiday bundles.
To say that I am pissed right now is a major understatement. Why do they have to stock all of these stupid *********g bundles? No one wants the damn things. Why can't they just stock more stand-alone systems? Maybe it's not the fault of the stores, maybe this is Microsoft's falut, because they won't make enough stand-alone systems. I've been a Mac user for a year, and yet a quick flip through the "dummies" Panther books at the local bookstore taught me quite a few things I didn't yet know.
So, I'd like a book written about Tiger as I plan to purchase the update.
Is there a "best of the best" of these types of books? For example, are the books written by David Pogue considered to be the best typically and his upcoming Tiger book would be a good choice?
Just give me some options.

What will happen is you'd have to go thru alot of BS and probably spend plenty of money to replace it. If you have a bad feeling and unsure about bringing it somewhere either dont bring it or use a different cell that you dont care about losing.
Not sure what the deal is with your carrier or if you have insurance or not that would cover theft and if it has a deductable etc...

i shouldn't have said french, maybe french press. ullrich has always bothered me, i think the party boy image from a few years back really left a bad taste in my mouth.
It's true he's had off-bike mishaps, and the doping really bothers me, but during the Tour he's always fun to watch. Assuming Lance stays retired he will be a huge factor in the time trials and at least a threat for the overall win.
And yes, the French press do seem to be anti-Lance.

Thanks for the advice. I did open my 60gb and it feels great to be able to fit everything on it again and backup my full-size photos. I didn't necessarily want a video-iPod but I thought they may just update battery life, functions, design, etc. Here's to at least a few months of no iPod updates since I just bought a new one :)May I suggest that you backup your Photos and other imprtant data to optical medaia (DVD-R/CD-R)?

Can confirm it is also working on 4.3.2 following my upgrade tonight, so I don't know how anyone can consider it dead... Working perfectly for me.

Easily 125+ people here. 16GB 3G both carrier are already "gone" according to apple people.

1) Thees models had a problem with the neck, it would wear out and the display would be like a limp noodle. Kinda like the second pic they have there where it's touching the desk all the way down. Thats what they do over time and they don't want to stay up after that. Unless you replace the neck which is a HUGE expense.
Thanks for pointing this out. I asked the seller, so I'll just have to wait and see what s/he says. The neck does look strong, though, in my opinion, because it's holding up the screen in the first picture. Maybe the seller just put it down to show what it can do? I don't know.

That article is very good but it's directed mostly to manufacturers and industry standard setters rather than end-users.
Unfortunately, it's a bit tricky. After TRIM Enabler came out about a month ago I did a secure erase. Nonetheless, the other day I ran Stellar Mac Data Recovery to undelete a file and it found a LOT of old files (almost a GB worth) that I think pre-date the secure erase. I might try a more "scientific" test when I have more time.
I plan to pass the MacBook Air down within the family when I get a new one, but I agree manufacturers need to get on the ball.

Smalldog lists the their used iMac (with the same specs as mine except mine has more ram) at $800. $1000 may be high but that's why this is just a feeler. I do have some additional software but my son destroyed the discs (love my 1year old!!) I have dmg. of a few of the programs. I realize though that I can't list them on this forum.
